Components of desktop

There are various components of the desktop, but I will talk about the main parts only.

It is the central part of the computer. Every computation takes place here. That’s why its name is the motherboard.
We can call it the brain of the CPU. It's of blue color in general. And is almost made up of plastic.
It has CPU socket, ram slot, heatsink, memories, inductor, CMOS battery, capacitors, connectors for input  (USB, Ethernet, etc.) and output.
The real CPU is on the motherboard, and it produces a high amount of heat, and there is a heat sink for cooling them.

2. Power supply(D&L)

As we know, our CPU runs on DC power supply, so the work of power supply is to convert AC current to DC current. In laptop we have the battery for DC power, it is charge by using AC adaptor, which converts AC power supply to DC power supply, whereas in desktop AC to DC is converted inside the power supplier.

1.RAM (D&L)

RAM stands for Random Access Memory.
It is used by CPU to store some information which can be used quickly.
It is a volatile type of memory, so it lost all of its data when we shut down our computer.
Nowadays it comes with 2,4,8GB ram in general and DDR4 type which is faster than DDR3 type.
2.ROM (D&L)

ROM stands for reading Only Memory.
As the name suggests, it cant be modified, so it is the nonvolatile type of memory.
It is used to store the information/instructions which are used by the system while starting up.
It is located in the motherboard. And as it is nonvolatile, its information never change or loss.
It is located on BIOS chip on the motherboard in some desktop.

3.Hard disk drive(HDD)(D&L)

It is the Main storage device, generally fixed but can be removed also.
It stores data in the magnetic form.
It has a rotating disk and a slider over that disk through which we can retrieve data from it.
Nowadays HDD is of 500GB, 250GB, or even 1-2TBs in general.
We can also use an external hard disk drive to increase the storage of our desktop or laptop.
4.CD/DVD drive(removable) (D&L)

CD stands for compact disk and DVD means digital video disk.
These are used to stores data.
Commonly it is used to store movies/videos.
Nowadays most of the laptop comes without it.
5. USBs (removable)(D&L)

These are removable and rewritable storage devices, it comes with 4,8,16,32,64GB, etc. of storage capacity.
These are connected in USB ports.
USB ports are to connect these USBs, mouse, audio device, and data cables for transferring data from other devices, etc.
6.Cache Memory

It is also called high-speed RAM, it improves the performance speed of our desktop or laptop by preloading the vital information for CPU.
It is a temporary memory space located in motherboard stores important information and instructions.
 Graphics card(D&L)

Graphics card is used to convert data in our machine/CPU to the image which is shown on the monitor. It is also called a video card and includes a memory, processing unit, a fan for cooling, etc. it. These are connected to pc using graphics slot available on the motherboard.
But sometimes it comes with a dedicated graphics card.
Nvidea and AMD make these graphics cards.
Clock battery/CMOS battery(D&L)
It is a clock battery that helps CMOS ram to maintain real-time, date, information about CPU, power saving settings, etc..
It runs even our desktop is shut down and not having any current supply.
In computer a bus is the type of system to communicate, it is the pathway in which information of address travels. These are many wires and each wire can carry only 1 bit of information or address.
It transfers data between various components inside computer.
It carry signals such as memory addresses, data and powers from component to component. These are also called expansion bus.
Touchpad (only L)
It is used to control the pointer, by sliding our fingers over it.
It is also called trackpad.
It a device which translates the motion of user's fingers on it to the position on the monitor, that is the pointer.
